Other systems and mechanics I had to implement:
- Flexible level design system based in waves of enemies, powerups and effects. More about this HERE.
- Weapons:
- Diverse weapons behaviours: homing bullets, zigzaging bullets, delayed explosions, blade weapon.
- Weapon-swapping system.
- Bullet properties like priority over other bullets and piercing enemies.
- Bullet pooling.
- Enemies:
- Rectilinear and curved movement patterns.
- Rotation towards players.
- UI:
- Local multiplayer menus that respond to different devices.
- HUD that reacts to game events like dying, using ammo, finding secrets, etc.
- Others:
- Allow different ways of unlocking levels (by amount of levels completed, amount of gems, amount of medals, or completing specific levels).
- Scrolling background that can change speed and angle smoothly.
- Background elements that move at different speeds.
- Rolling credits, including pause and speed controls.
